Abstract

This research examines the political, religious, social, and financial contributions of Pir Syed Jamaat Ali Shah to the Pakistan Movement and the early development of Pakistan. The study demonstrates that he played a significant role in awakening political consciousness among the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent, promoting the Two-Nation Theory, and warning the Muslim community about the political strategies of the Hindu leadership. As a renowned religious and spiritual leader, he used his influence to unite Muslims around a common political objective and encouraged them to actively participate in the struggle for a separate homeland.Pir Syed Jamaat Ali Shah strongly supported Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and considered him the legitimate leader of the Muslims of the subcontinent. He encouraged the public, particularly his disciples and followers, to join the All-India Muslim League and vote for its candidates. He also issued a religious decree (fatwa) in support of the Muslim League, declaring its support a religious and national obligation for Muslims. His active participation in political gatherings, support for the Lahore Resolution, and efforts during the 1946 elections significantly strengthened the Pakistan Movement and contributed to the Muslim League's electoral success. The research further highlights his financial and humanitarian services. He initiated fundraising efforts for the freedom movement and generously contributed to the cause. After the establishment of Pakistan in 1947, he actively participated in the relief and rehabilitation of Muslim refugees by providing financial assistance, food, and other essential services during the migration crisis. These humanitarian efforts reflected his commitment to Islamic brotherhood and national solidarity. The findings of this study conclude that Pir Syed Jamaat Ali Shah effectively utilized his religious and spiritual authority to advance the political interests of the Muslims of British India. His leadership strengthened Muslim unity, reinforced support for the Pakistan Movement, and contributed to the consolidation of the newly established State of Pakistan. Therefore, his political vision, religious leadership, and social services constitute an important and valuable chapter in the history of the Pakistan Movement and the ideological foundations of Pakista.
