From traditional Security to Human security: Unveiling Repression against Afghan Women under Taliban 2.0

Abstract

The aim of the paper is to analyze the transition from traditional security concepts to human security and how it has shaped our understanding of conflicts. The paper argues that historically, the realist idea of security dominated the World War, cold war politics. After, demise of the USSR, the concepts of human development and security became prominent. This thought prevails in the international relation discussion and in 1994 UNHDR, conceptualize the idea and introduced the term of Human security. Human security in its simplest form can be defined as the analytical tool to protect individuals not state. Furthermore, this study critically evaluates the repression against Afghan women in under Taliban 2.0 and its implications under the theoretical framework of human security. The research proposes the need to analyze the issue of Afghanistan under human security framework instead of the security-centric approach. And the need to enhance the international engagements and assistance to foster the growth of Afghan women.
