Tolerance and Social Peace in the Light of the Holy Qur’an: An Analytical Rhetorical Study

Abstract

The contemporary world is experiencing profound transformations and increasing conflicts manifested in armed conflicts, extremism, and violence.  This transformation is prevailing in economic and social structures and rapid revolutions in communication media. These rapid changes have produced chaos and turmoil which threatened the very fabric of societies and undermined their internal stability. During these circumstances, the principle of tolerance is the most prominent solutions that can contribute to healing the human rift and achieving social balance. This study addresses the most vital part for communal peace, i.e. tolerance. The study will focus on Quranic teaching on Tolerance to build a safe, healthy and prosperous human society. For this purpose, the study, in the first part introduces the topic describing the study’s significance, its objectives and scope. The second part is dedicated to examining analytical rhetoric and highlighting the most important rhetorical subtleties found in verses on tolerance. Lastly, in conclusion, the most important finding through this study are presented.
