Abstract

The mention of plants in the Holy Quran holds great significance, where various types of plants and vegetation are presented as signs and blessings from Allah. These plants are not only important from spiritual and symbolic perspectives but their medicinal benefits have also been validated through modern scientific research. In contemporary times, modern medical science has experimentally and scientifically examined the various therapeutic properties of the Quranic plants and globally acknowledged their efficacy. The purpose of this research study was to comprehensively and authentically present the medicinal benefits of these plants mentioned in the Quran through the lens of modern medical science, thus providing a scholarly and research-based clarification of their uses and benefits.Quranic plants such as olive, pomegranate, date palm, honey, grape, apple, and others have been mentioned in several verses of the Quran, each having distinct nutritional and medicinal aspects explored in detail by modern science. For instance, olive oil has been found highly effective in treating heart diseases, skin conditions, and reducing inflammation. Modern research indicates that antioxidants present in olive oil reduce oxidative stress in the body, which is a primary cause of various diseases. Similarly, pomegranate contains polyphenols and antioxidants that play a protective role against cancer, heart diseases, and inflammatory conditions. This research also revealed that the benefits of these Quranic plants are not merely symbolic but hold immense medicinal value due to the presence of chemical compounds, vitamins, minerals, and other nutritional elements. Modern medical science has conducted biochemical profiling of these plants, identifying health-promoting constituents that aid in the prevention, treatment, and physical fitness of the body. Moreover, their natural and chemical structure provides treatments free from side effects and offers long-lasting healing.
