THE JURISPRUDENCE OF TEXTUAL INTERPRETATION BY AL-HAFIZ IBN HAJAR THROUGH THE STATEMENTS OF THE COMPANIONS (R.A) IN FATH AL-BARI

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the textual approach of Ḥafiẓ Ibn-e-Ḥajar (R.A) regarding the specific treatment of Text (Naṣ) of the Prophet (PBUH) based on the saying of His (PBUH) companions (R.A).The researcher will examine the classical methodology of Ibn-e-Ḥajar (R.A) regarding his classification of different sayings of the companions by extracting the injunctions of Shariah, endorsing it and associating Shariah issues in their context. The study will contribute to the field of Science of Ḥadiṯh in the form of clarifying reasons to the viewpoint of Ibn-e-Ḥajar (R.A) of preferring a particular juristic objective over the general juristic discourse of Šhafi’ School of Thought. It will also contribute to the interpretation of Aḥaditḥ of the Prophet (PBUH) in preferring the general public interest instead of strictly following the principles of interpretation of a particular scholar of Ḥadiṯh. The adopted research methodology would be Analytical and Critical.
