Political Instability, Its Reasons, Effects and Solutions in the Light of the Seerah of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Abstract
This study addresses the issue of political instability by exploring its causes, effects, and possible remedies in the light of the Prophetic Seerah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Political instability has become one of the most pressing challenges facing many societies today, leading to divisions, social unrest, and weakened institutions. The first chapter of this research examines the main causes of instability, which include injustice, corruption, and the absence of effective leadership, the neglect of consultation (shura), social inequality, and external interference. It demonstrates how these factors combine to weaken the internal fabric of societies and create an environment of mistrust between the people and their rulers. The second chapter investigates the consequences of political instability on the individual, the community, and the state. These effects appear in the form of economic crises, insecurity, and the spread of violence, the erosion of social cohesion, and the loss of moral and cultural values. The research highlights that instability not only disrupts political systems but also threatens the very foundations of human development, stability, and prosperity. The third chapter focuses on solutions inspired by the Prophetic Seerah. It emphasizes the principles of justice, mercy, equality, accountability, and the necessity of strong yet compassionate leadership. The study further highlights the role of consultation (shura), respect for human dignity, promotion of unity, and the Prophet’s approach in resolving conflicts and building a stable society based on faith and mutual trust. These principles are presented as timeless guidelines that remain relevant and applicable to modern political challenges. The conclusion summarizes the major findings of the research and puts forward recommendations for contemporary societies. It underlines the importance of adopting the Prophetic methodology as a means to overcome crises and achieve stability. The study stresses that the lessons derived from the Seerah are not limited to history but provide a practical framework for governance, reform, and nation-building today. Returning to the Prophetic model is therefore not only a religious necessity but also a practical solution for achieving justice, harmony, and sustainable stability in the modern world.
